Why I do what I do

Finance has always been an important part of my life.  I have always been on a path to this career even if I didn't know it at the time. When I was 17 and moved out of home to go to University my father made me sit down and complete a Budget so I could show him that my income was greater than my expenses.  I have been Treasurer of every club or community group I have been part off, long before I moved into this profession.

A proper insurance package would have made a significant difference to our family when my mother passed away from pancreatic cancer when I was 12, especially given my father's subsequent health issues.

Over the last decade I am proud to have assisted a variety of people with their situations.  Almost every goal you have has a financial aspect to it.  I have advised people on wealth protection strategies to ensure the financial impact is reduced in times of health and family stress.  By dealing with the insurers  on behalf of clients I have simplified the claims process to allow them to focus their family rather than a claim.  It is a great feeling to see the difference an insurance payout can make to the beneficiary.

I have advised clients in building wealth both for short term goals and their retirement, and assisted in managing the transition from full time work. This is different for everyone.  Sometimes it is 'R Day' and for others a staged reduction in either hours or responsibilities over time.  It has been great to ensure that throughout this process any eligibility for government benefits is maximized.  My clients have told me that one of the things they value most when leaving my office is that everything is under control and they are on track.  It's a great feeling to know that you're helping people have peace of mind so they can focus on other parts of their lives.

A few things about me:

  • I play Basketball twice a week
  • I enjoy cooking, especially using the herbs I grow on my balcony
  • I go to the theatre regularly
  • I spent three months in France in early 2015 qualifying as a ski instructor (aka I'm addicted to snow!)
